CHARITIES in Whitby and the surrounding area are being warned that failing to keep their paperwork up to date could lead to them being struck off the Charity Register.
Some charities are failing to submit an annual return within the specified deadline, placing their charitable status at risk.
Now Seachange, a local support and development organisation for the voluntary sector is calling for charities to check their status on the Charity Register.
An investigation earlier this year revealed almost 200 registered charities in North Yorkshire were listed as defaulting often because they failed to submit an annual return within the deadline.
