North yorkshire moors autumn scene at Westerdale

Autumn is definitely upon us and while the changing seasons might bring with it darker mornings and nights that are closing in, it also means bright, crisp days and an array of fantastic and changing colour schemes.

From purple heather to golden conkers and red and
rustic trees, this time of year can make for some
spectacular photographs.

Gazette photographer Gary Simpson captured this breathtaking scene while out and about in the Esk Valley.

It was taken from the direction of the A171 Moors road between Whitby and Guisborough near the village hamlet of Westerdale.
