A GROUP of carol singers in Stainsacre raised £340 for Cancer Research with the help of the generous public in Whitby, Hawsker and Robin Hood’s Bay.

The Windmill Girls mostly entertain and collect in pubs but also appeared at Hawsker and Stainsacre’s village carol service, Whitby Hospital and various retirement homes.

Sue Rowland, the leader of the girls, said: “We had a thoroughly enjoyable time rehearsing and singing, making new friends along the way, and appreciated the warm reception we had from so many gatherings of people.

“We would like to thank Tony and Deryn at the Windmill, Stainsacre for giving us rehearsal room again this year. I look forward to seeing everyone again next November.”
