Caravan park extension given go-ahead

AN EXTENSION to a caravan park at High Hawsker has been given the planning go-ahead despitre objections from the local parish council.

The application to use a field at the established camping and caravan park was approved by the North York Moors National Park planning committee.

It was made by Mr C Wharton, of Billingham for York House Caravan Park.

Members of Hawsker-cum-Stainsacre Parish Council objected because they feared that if the site became too big it would result in sewers becoming overloaded.

But the applicant’s agent said that in terms of drainage a new package treatment plant was proposed.

Planning officers recommending approval said that the site was some distance from residential properties and would not be visually prominent or have a detrimental impact on the character of the area.
