A FIELD in Goathland will be used as a car park for a further five years following a successful application to the North York Moors National Park Planning Committee.

Jackie Fearnley of Brereton Lodge, Goathland already had temporary permission but sought the extension for the benefits of residents who are allowed to park in the field for free.

It has been used as a car park since 1997 after an increase in the number of visitors to Goathland due to the popularity of the television series Heartbeat and the Harry Potter films, which were partly filmed in the village.
