A family fun day in Whitby has helped raise over £8000 for three different cancer charities.
It was organised by Dave Henshaw (56) of Sutcliffe Court who has been receiving successful treatment for cancer of the oesophagus. The bash at Whitby Rugby Club on Sunday afternoon saw live music from Nicky and James and local band the Vampire Prawns. There were activities for kids, a raffle, auction and food and drinks supplied by the rugby club.
In total, along with help from family and friends and a few other events, Dave, a former oil rig superintendant has now raised £8036 which will will go to Cancer Research UK, Cancer Research Kids and Teens , Children with Cancer UK.
Dave said: “The day and night was a fantastic event and I would like to thank every one for their help and support all the local business that donated with raffle prizes plus all the guys that helped sell the tickets.”
