Changes to postal service

Royal Mail is making changes to the way it delivers post in Whitby because fewer letters are being posted and it needs to modernise the service and keep costs down.

House-holders should still get mail by lunch time but the time it comes will depend upon where they live on the new delivery route and how much post there is to be delivered in Whitby on that day.

Royal Mail’s delivery director Gary Milne said: “We are proud of the high regard in which our postmen and women are held in Whitby. The changes to delivery routes will mean that a member of our local and experienced team will still be delivering to our customers in Whitby.”

He added: “The local delivery team and I are fully committed to providing a high quality of service that is as reliable and friendly as customers have come to expect from Royal Mail in Whitby over many years.”

The changes are being brought in from this week.
