A BRAVE and kind-hearted holidaymaker will brave the chill of the North Sea today as she swims to raise funds for a cause close to her heart.
Janet Rusby is eagerly preparing to swim from Sandsend to Whitby Pier at around 2pm, to raise the vital funds for Whitby RNLI.
Janet’s inspiration to complete the challenge is to bring attention and awareness to what they do.
She said: “People take for granted that there will be someone to save them if they get into difficulty, and forget that the men are risking their own lives too.”
Along with her husband Paul, the couple – from Manchester – have been holidaying in Whitby for around 15 years and are very fond of the town.
If you would like to sponsor Janet contact the Lifeboat Station in Whitby on (01947) 602216 or you can just pop along to the station.
