Whitby Town are set to host a prestigious tournament this July, with a host of big names set to grace the Turnbull Ground pitch.
Celtic, AZ Alkmaar and Newcastle United will join the Blues to face off against each other, on the July 27, 28 and 29, to deliver a festival of football.
The event, which has seen the Blues team up with entrepreneurs Dennis Hobson and Graeme Hinchliffe, will be the first tournament of its kind and has full Football Association approval.
Blues manager Chris Hardy is excited for the event, and believes that his side rubbing shoulders with some of Europe’s biggest sides can only be of benefit to them.
“We’re set to take on some of football’s biggest names and all of us on the playing side of things are relishing the challenge,” Hardy said.
“It’s a great chance for us to put the club on the map. In terms of generating interest ahead of a season where we’re aiming for play-offs and promotion, it couldn’t be better.
“To see the Turnbull Ground packed with 2,000 people inside, in pre-season, would be fantastic.”
Tickets for each game cost £10 for adults, £6 concessions and £3 children and can be booked at the Spa Pavilion, Whitby, or through the club’s official website at www.whitby-town.com.
