Artists who have seen the light

Three Whitby artists, inspired by their local surroundings, will be exhibiting their work throughout July.

Sue Morton, Emma Evett and Gail Hurst all work in different mediums but have one thing in common – their love of the natural countryside and in particular the vast and rolling North York Moors and the coastline next to it.

Their exhibition of work captures mist, softening outlines, stormy skies, silvery seas, mellow evenings and mysterious shadows as well as bright seasonal colours.

It is this that has inspired many an artist and has been the focus of their work especially for this exhibition.

Catching the Light features new work produced over the last 12 months by landscape artists Sue and Gail and Emma who is a glass sculptor and jewellery designer.

Catching the Light opens on Thursday June 30 at the ‘Inspired By’ Galleries, The Moors Visitor Centre atDanby.

The free exhibition runs until Tuesday July 19 and is open each day between 10am and 5pm.

There is an opportunity to meet the three artists and chat to them as they work.

This is on Saturday July 2, between 12 noon and 3pm.

On the other days that the exhibition is running either Gail, Sue or Emma will be working and chatting to visitors in the Gallery.
