A woman will be taking part in an 80-mile coastal walk, starting from Hull and ending at her father’s memorial bench on Whitby’s West Cliff.

Abby Webb, who is backpacking with her partner Krystyna, is raising money for the charity Mind, after losing her father Geoff in July 2016 when he took his own life.

“The last couple of years have been exceptionally difficult but this year we have decided to try to make a positive out of the situation and raise as much money as possible to help Mind support those who feel most alone as nobody should suffer in silence,” said Abby.

“We picked Whitby as our end point as it’s a very important place as it was the place my dad grew up and loved.

“My dad moved away from Whitby to Scotland with my mum and brother in the late 70s as he worked for the MoD and I was born here.”

The walk starts in Hull on July 24 and ends in Whitby on July 27.
