SCARECROWS on the streets of Hinderwell and Port Mulgrave attracted thousands of visitors and earned a record sum for charity.
The village’s scarecrow festival is an annual event, held this year at the end of July.
Spokesman Carol Barker, treasurer of the scarecrow committee, said: “Thousands of visitors were drawn to the villages of Hinderwell and Port Mulgrave to admire the creative handiwork of the residents.
“The week started off with a gala day on the Sunday when the scarecrows came out on the streets at 11am and continued throughout the week.
“There were serious ones as well as very funny singles and groups. We’re most grateful to everyone who helped during the week and to all the visitors who supported the events.”
The 2012 Scarecrow festival is provisionally planned for the week starting on Sunday 22 July 2012.
