WHITBY and district went wedding crazy on Friday as people came together to celebrate the royal nuptials in true patriotic style.
From Robin Hood’s Bay to Castleton, the young and old got into the party spirit and the Whitby Gazette was out and about all day to join in the fun.
In Ruswarp Lane, Sarah Newton and her friends dressed up in wedding gowns and watched the ceremony with a glass of bubbly, before showering a cardboard cut-out of the newlyweds with confetti.
Sarah said: “We’re taking the opportunity to appreciate our British culture and are really just getting into the spirit of a happy love affair.”
For a full royal wedding round-up, including stiddy firing in Lythe, a huge street celebration in Castleton and party games on the Fishermen’s pier, see this Friday’s Gazette.
