A PEEK at Whitby’s yards from the past and the present will take place in an exhibition tomorrow.
The display at Sneaton Castle, 2pm-5pm, will include new and old photographs of the intriguing Whitby Yards as well as stories from days gone by and modern anecdotes.
Whitby in Bloom is holding the event and hope to raise awareness of their group and show the impact of a small community working together to improve their outdoor living space.
Joyce Stangoe of Whitby in Bloom said: “I found the research extremely interesting and met many very passionate people, some with extensive files on Whitby history.
“It’s interesting to see how designs have stuck over the years, for example the heavy gates on yard entrances to give security to residents.
“However it is sad to see the neglect in some yards, so this exhibition gives people a chance to see the quaint and picturesque past of the fascinating area and its historical importance.”
