9. The wild playground
The giant ‘wild’ playground is where off-roaders can experience some of Britain’s best single-track, ridgeway, and top-of-the-world trails in the heather-clad glory of the North York Moors or the big skies of the Yorkshire Wolds. If you really want to go off-piste, you’ll need a good map or experienced guide, but favourite starting points to search for include Malton, Helmsley, Pickering, and Kirkbymoorside.
