Two Whitby area restaurants in Michelin Guide 2021
Two restaurants in the Whitby area feature in the Michelin Guide 2021.
The Star Inn the Harbour at Whitby and Number 20 at Port Mulgrave, near Hinderwell, have both been awarded Michelin Plates in this year's guide.
Andrew Pern has fulfilled a dream by opening The Star Inn the Harbour, a modern brasserie in his home town.
The extensive menu offers classic British brasserie dishes from the Harbourside, the Countryside and the Ice Cream Parlour.
Pern also owns the acclaimed The Star Inn at Harome, near Helmsley, which also features in the new guide's North Yorkshire entries.
Having previously run the Fox & Hounds at Goldsborough, Jason and Sue opened Number 20, a "homely little restaurant" in Port Mulgrave.
The guide says: "Concise, daily changing menus have a seafood bias with the occasional Mediterranean element thrown in, and cooking has a fresh, unfussy style."
Further afield, in the Ryedale area, as well as The Star at Harome - another six eateries feature including The Black Swan at Oldstead, which was awarded a Michelin green star for sustainability.
Also listed are The Weathervane at Helmsley, Pheasant at Harome, The Hare at Scawton, The Hovingham Inn at Hovingham and New Malton at Malton.
