Fylingdales Football Club has good reason to be grateful to the air ambulance service. Earlier this season, the helicopter emergency crew was called to their Thorpe Lane ground when one of their players, Steve Stones, was badly injured during a game and had to be airlifted to hospital.
So when they organised their annual fund-raising dance, Bay Love Fest 2013, they decided to share the £1,350 they raised with Yorkshire Air Ambulance. A cheque was presented to the air ambulance’s David Hebden, while the other half will go to club funds towards the cost of equipment, referees, transport and other essentials . Mr Hebden said: “The goodwill, sponsorship and charitable donations keep us flying.”
