New horse rider guide reveals the best routes across North York Moors

A comprehensive guide to the bridleways and tracks across the North Yorks Moors, especially targeted at horse riders, has been published to help with the upkeep of the routes.

Riding in the North York Moors has been written by Bill Tait, who is also known as the Helmsley Cowboy.

Mr Tait has been researching and recording the bridleways in this unique area for several years.

Mr Tait said: “Many routes on the map may look inviting but the reality can be a steep, rocky gully, a treacherous bog, difficult gates, or a rutted, damaged surface.

“This book is designed to give riders the confidence to visit and ride the moors, and enjoy the simple delights of the area.

“All profits from the book will go towards the upkeep of the bridleways.”
