A second Scarborough pub has shut because of coronavirus.

The Cask Inn and Club in Cambridge Terrace has closed after a customer tested positive for the disease.

The pub announced on social media yesterday: "We have been notified that a person who attended our premises on Saturday September 26 has tested positive for Covid-19.

"Therefore we have taken the decision to close our doors for two days to enable a deep clean and sanitisation to be carried out.

"The safety of our staff and customers is paramount and we thank you for your understanding in these difficult times.

"We are hoping to be open again for business on Friday, October 2."

Last week, The New Tavern, in Falsgrave Road, shut after a customer tested positive for the disease. It has since reopened.

According to the latest government figures, updated late on Wednesday September 30, there have been 749 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the Scarborough borough.
