Scarborough borough's coronavirus infection rate falls to lowest in North Yorkshire

The borough’s seven-day coronavirus infection rate per 100,000 people is at 17, down from 23 at the end of last week.

It means the borough is now averaging 18 new cases a week, down from 25 last week.

The drop puts Scarborough’s rate as the lowest in the county and comfortably below the national average, which is currently 22.

The average infection rate for North Yorkshire has dropped to 26, in part due to the infection rate in the Selby district dropping from more than 100 to 68.

Mobile testing facilities will be available in Whitby, Scarborough and Filey this week for anyone with symptoms to get tested.
