Latest financial results from the parent company of Boulby mine near Whitby, have revealed a significant increase in production.

Figures for the third quarter ending in September show that Boulby’s production increased by nearly 10% year-over-year as sales continued to improve on higher prices and volumes.

So far this year, a record of more than 800,000 tonnes of polyhalite – marketed as Polysulphate – has been hoisted at Boulby.

Boulby General Manager Malcolm Mewett said: “We are delighted to have played a part in delivering ICL’s record results for the quarter and to achieving the production milestone which has already topped the output for the whole of 2021.

“Once again it is a tribute to efforts and commitment of everyone involved which saw us able to successfully make the transition from potash to polyhalite, maintain operations throughout the challenges of the pandemic and now drive forward to secure the future.”
