A statement on social media said: “It is with great sadness that one of our employees has now tested positive for Covid-19.

"As you can imagine we are all very upset and feeling a lot of emotions at the moment.

“We have been in contact with Public Health England and they are supporting us in contacting customers with the track and trace procedures.”

The pub has said that the staff member worked on Saturday lunchtime and evening but was not part of the front of house service.

The statement added: “If you have visited our premises between 28/08/20 and 29/08/20 you are advised, as a precaution, to self-isolate for 14 days and if you develop any symptoms, however mild, to arrange a test.

“The symptoms to look out for are a high temperature, new continuous cough, and a loss of, or change to your sense of smell or taste.

“As you can imagine we are feeling all emotions and seeking lots of advice, we just ask for everyone to please be kind, it’s been an emotional day particularly for our hard-working, loyal staff members, we only wish it wasn’t happening to us.”
