“Our summer film lecture programme has just been announced and it has a distinctly British ‘feel’ to it, featuring the classics from Powell and Pressburger partnership, Ealing Studios, the Carry On ‘franchise’ and cult Hammer Horror movies.”

In June, the Powell and Pressburger lecture explores the legendary film-making partnership that produced movies including A Matter of Life and Death starring the late David Niven.

The first July lecture focuses on Ealing Studios and re-discovers this British film studio portfolio that often provides comments about social and political issues. The second lecture re-appraises the Carry-On films while the final July lecture focuses upon the gothic terrors of Hammer Horror, including timeless characters such as Dracula and Frankenstein.

Mr Cromack said: “The online platform Zoom lends itself very well to the lecture format, allowing the tutor to show clips, delivering the lecture itself and with an opportunity for questions at the end of the lecture.”
