WHITBY Now, the popular day-long showcase of musical talent for the area, could be held over two days this year.
The organisers of the event at Whitby Pavilion have decided to make an early start this time around.
Secretary Jean Scales said as they had so many applications last year from bands keen to play a gig, they are determined to find a way to please eve
n more people this time round.
One of their ideas is to hold the event over two nights on 14 and 15 November.
If you are a band/duo/solo performer/comedian/superstar – who lives and likes to perform in Whitby and the Whitby area – then now is the time to make yourself known to the Whitby Now committee.
Jean said: "Even though you will only be chosen to perform on one of the evenings we would appreciate it if you can make yourself available for both nights.
"This would give us the opportunity to produce the two evenings to their maximum potential.
"If you cannot make yourself available for both evenings then we may have to refuse your application.
"As we get nearer the date we will, of course, inform all parties which night they will be on."
After a hugely successful show in 2007 the main improvement the organisers are determined to make is to make Whitby Now have a broader audience appeal.
Jean added: "We don't want Whitby Now to become solely known as a bands night which is largely for young people – we want all ages and tastes catered for.
"We certainly were on our way to this aim last year and think the two night event would go even further to achieving this end.
"We will also be starting early with our fund-raisers as we want to raise awareness about the event and funds for it as soon as possible."
Anyone interested in applying for Whitby Now 2008 or who are available to do one of the fund-raisers is asked to get in touch with Jean Scales on (01947) 600066 or Mark Liddell on (01947) 821112.
