THE powerful voices of Danby's Dalesmen Singers are set to bring the Coliseum alive on Saturday for a fund-raising concert in aid of Whitby Network.
The choir was founded in 1971 by Joe Easley and Colin Throup and has enjoyed great success over the past 37 years.
Its reputation means they now travel widely around the globe having sung in Canada, Sweden, Norway, Holland, Spain and France.
Home for the 45-strong choir is Danby and rehearsals take place in the village's methodist church on a Tuesday evening.
The choir has a long tradition of friendship and helping others and is always keen to welcome new members.
Over the years, Dalesmen concerts have raised thousands for many charities and choir members come from all walks of life and from different backgrounds but share a love of singing which is reflected in their performances.
Members come for all over the area from Whitby, Pickering, Teesside and all places in between and many of their wives and partners take an active role in their fund-raising efforts.
The choir will sing a variety of songs during the concert – some serious, some fun with lots in between.
The performance starts at 7.30pm and tickets are available from the Coliseum priced £4 adults, £3 concessions.
The show is expected to be a sell out so pre-booking tickets is highly recommended.
This can be done by calling Nick or Maureen on (01947) 825000.
