WHITBY Music Club ends its current season on a high note with two top class recitals at Sneaton Castle's St Hilda's Priory Chapel.
The Rhodes Piano Trio will perform at the chapel in Castle Road, Whitby, at 7.30pm tomorrow by kind permission of the principal at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM).
Formed in September 2003, the talented ensemble has won all the RNCM's major chamber music prizes and has performed in the USA, Netherlands and Lithuania and extensively in the UK.
Tomorrow they will play piano trios by Beethoven, Frank Bridge and Schubert.
The second recital is on Wednesday at 7.30pm in the Priory Chapel and will star accomplished pianist John Reid, who is paying his second visit to Whitby, by special request.
Together with his regular duo partner, violinist Thomas Gould, John has given recitals at the Queen Elizabeth Hall (under the auspices of the Martin Musical Scholarship Fund), at the Buxton and Chester Festivals and across the UK, including Whitby last autumn.
He returns a soloist in his own right and will play two short chorales by Bach and his Partita No 4 in D major.
He will also perform Schubert's last Sonata, No 21 in B flat and five short piano pieces by Schoenberg, prior to playing the same programme in Salisbury Cathedral as part of their 750th anniversary celebrations next month.
Admission to each concert costs £7.50, or £6.50 concessions, with full-time students admitted free.
