THERE are 80 tribute acts to rockers Pink Floyd but Floydian Slip, who are performing at Whitby Pavilion next month, claim to be the best.
The band uses a quadraphonic sound system, computer controlled intelligent lighting including lasers and a massive video screen using the very latest digital projection technology.
The video screen is the same design as the one used by Pink Floyd on their later tours and is used to show the original screen films which accompany the music and also to provide mesmerising psychedelic images.
Floydian Slip only play venues large enough to accommodate their full stage set-up and a typical show lasts for more than two hours.
Playing songs from Pink Floyd's back catalogue the set can include anything from a complete rendition of The Wall, the complete Dark Side of the Moon and many other classic tracks from albums such as Meddle, Animals, Wish You Were Here, A Momentary Lapse Of Reason and The Division Bell.
Floydian Slip were formed in 1994 when the members of the band were wowed after seeing Pink Floyd's spectacular show at Earls Court, according to keyboard player and vocalist Gaz Bedford.
"At the time we were a tribute band but we were covering loads of acts, such as Deep Purple and other prog rocks groups. We were all blown away by the Pink Floyd show and decided straight away that we would just stick to playing their songs after that," he said.
Floydian Slip confidently believe they now produce the best sound they have ever had.
The band has chopped and changed members, but the current line-up of Andy Ashley, Gaz Bedford, Tony Goodman, Wayne Bolland, Simon Hall and backing vocalist Kelly Bond feel they are at their best and aiming to be more spectacular.
The performance starts at 7.45pm at Whitby Pavilion on Sunday 27 April.
Tickets are £10 available from the ticket hotline (01947) 604855.
