WHITBY Now Weekender explodes into Whitby Pavilion this Friday and Saturday night with 10 hours of live music and 21 talented acts taking to the stage.
Friday will have a rockier feel while Saturday will have music to suit all tastes, with the first band on from 7pm and continuing into midnight and beyond.
Whitby Gazette chief reporter Alex Fredman and music fan Jakob Ricketts (15) give their take on the acts appearing on both nights.
Friday night line-up
7pm James Auger, a soloist, has been singing and playing his guitar for the crowds for about a year now and has written a lot of his own original music.
He has also been in a number of bands up to his solo career and he talks about these all very openly on his Myspace music page.
He has a wide music background, with some great skills, along with a unique voice.
Watch this space.
7.30pm Discarnate (Dave Barker on lead vocals/guitar, Matt Dudman lead guitar, Chris Dudman bass/vocals, Rob Martland drums) is a metal band from Whitby showing great potential in its genre, having recorded some of its own original music and having a strong fan base, this band is already set to become something more.
The band itself has been around for about two years now. The song, Purge the Unclean, has some superb guitar and drumming and could be comparable with some of the more recent Slipknot songs.
Jakob said: "One thing I did notice was how good the bass guitar was, I hope to hear more of that in the near future as I believe Chris Dudman to have real skill with the instrument.
"I would love to hear them cover some of Slipknot's music, as I believe it will really complement everything the band has to offer."
8pm The Scarlet Alliance (Jack Wilson on guitar/ukulele/vocals, Sam Williamson drums) is a Whitby band and has been around since 2007.
The band vocals are like a combination between Queens of the Stone Age (QOTSA) and The Hives, all backed by an amazing instrumental combination that sounds like some odd, Queens of the Stone Age and Muse love child.
The songs Funny and Caffeine Eyes, are just superb while This Room has a mega guitar riff and their future looks promising. QOTSA or Hives fans are likely to love these guys.
Watch out for their song Fizz Thrill with some serious skill demonstrated on the ukulele.
8.30pm 3 foot Ninja (Jordan Bell on vocals/guitar, Joe Bell bass/vocals, Sam Power drums/vocals) is a three-piece band from Middlesbrough and Rosedale, rising very quickly through the world of music.
The band has played some high profile gigs including supporting The Subways at the Cockpit in Leeds and again in Manchester.
Jakob said: "A great band with some good prospects and a bright looking future.
