EXPERIENCE an evening of jazz in the stunning setting of the Yorkshire Dales next month.
Situated close to the historic town of Bedale, Thorp Perrow Arboretum is a fascinating place to explore and on Saturday 25 May, jazz fans will be in for a real treat as Mr Swing's Dance Orchestra comes to perform at the centre.
Thorp Perrow is home to one of the country's finest private collections of trees and shrubs.
Covering 85 acres, it is unique to Britain – if not Europe – as it was the creation of one man, Colonel Sir Leonard Ropner (1895 – 1977).
This tranquil and peaceful haven is home to some of the largest and rarest trees and shrubs in England and is a treasure trove of specimen trees and woodland walks.
There are trees, nature and children's trails, a large lake, picnic area and a children's play area. Thorp Perrow also plays host to a stunning Falconry Centre, with one of the largest collections of birds of prey in the north of England, with over 75 birds from all continents of the world. And, new for 2008, the fabulous Mammal Centre, complete with ferrets, wallabies, rheas, golden pheasants and meerkats.
Advance tickets to the concert are priced adults £15, students and children £8 from Thorp Perrow Arboretum, Bedale, North Yorkshire on (01677) 425323. For more information visit www.thorpperrow.com
Tickets on the door are priced adults £17, students and children £10.
