A POPULAR acoustic music night has swapped its venue from Glaisdale to Whitby's Coliseum for its next event.
The next Music in the Basement is being held at Whitby Coliseum in Station Square on Saturday 26 July at 7.30pm.

The live music showcase has previously been held at the Robinson Institute but organisers are staging one in Whitby due to demand from
the public.

There will however be another in October in Glaisdale.

Organiser Sally Ann Smith said: "We have a lot of interest from Whitby. We will see how it goes. The Coliseum is a lovely venue."

The last show was a sell-out and people are advised to book early.

The line up for next month's gig is Andy Stone, (pictured above) a guitarist/vocalist and songwriter from York who has occasionally played with Castleton star Alistair Griffin on lead vocals in his band Blue Nun.

Also performing is singer/songwriter Miles Cain from York.

He describes his songwriting as punchy, soulful and heartfelt – think Billy Bragg meets Del Amitri, with a twist of Jackie Leven for good measure.

His album, A Way Of Being Free, was released in April last year.

Also taking to the stage is Barbara Helen, a songwriter from Brotton, who presents her songs with a voice that ranges between sensitive and soaring, acoustic roots trio Fragile, The Committee, a five piece young rock band from the Esk Valley and Whitby and Panzer Attack who will be playing an acoustic set.

Tickets priced £5 adults, £3 children are available from (01287) 660279 or the Coliseum on (01947) 825000 and also at: fragile.sm@hotmail.co.uk
