WHITBY Town will kick off the new season without their website player of the year Leon Scott.
The versatile Scott has stepped up a level to join Harrogate Town in the Conference North.

But Blues boss Harry Dunn will be waiting to pounce if the move does not go as planned.

"Apparently, Leon did quite well for the club last year from what I can gather," said Dunn.

"He's quite ambitious and wants to get on and would like to give it a go in the Conference North.

"I thanked him for what he's done and said he would be more than welcome to come back.

"But we've got to have lads in who give everything for the club – after two poor seasons we don't want to have lads who don't really want to be here but we will keep an eye on things."

Dunn is also keeping close tabs on the situation with keeper Nick Liversedge, who proved a firm favourite with Blues fans while on loan from Darlington last season.

"Darlington have made him an offer and he wants to stay full-time if possible but nothing has yet materialised or been set in stone so I've asked him to get back to us as quickly as possible and let us know what's happening."

Liversedge was third in both the player's player and website player of the year awards for last season.

Dunn, who returned to Whitby at the end of last season after previous boss Graeme Clark resigned, said it is a frustrating time of year at the moment.

"Supporters want to know who you are signing but it's a waste of time trying to rush things through."

Dunn is now waiting for the list of available players to be released by the PFA to see if he can stengthen the side further, but he said all the players from last season are keen to come back for pre-season training on 30 June.

l APART from adding Leon Scott to their ranks, Harrogate have also swooped for former Whitby winger Dave McTiernan.
