THE White Lily Ball has been declared a huge success by its organisers after raising over £3,000 for local hospices.
The ball was organised by Kate Sleightholme and Lucy Bowes, who lost both parents to cancer, and took place at Dunsley Hall on 1 June.
£1,000 was raised for the Butterwick Hospice, Zoe’s Place Hospice and St Catherine’s Hospice and Lucy said: “Kate and I are overwhelmed with the support and kindness received by so many people.
“I’m pretty confident that my parents will be looking down with pride at what we have achieved in their memory.
“We are on cloud nine - so much support for three great hospices.”
A charity auction was undertaken by Ian Halley of Richardson and Smith and raised over £1,100 alone.
Raffle tickets sales also brought in hundreds of pounds and lucy thanked the “amazing” support and generosity of local businesses.
Thanks also went to Carole, Bill and Gordon Ward of Dunsley Hall for decorating the ballroom.
Lucy added: “Kate and I would like to thank everybody from the bottom of our hearts, you’re all amazing.”
