AN actress from Egton has proved a hit with judges following her performance in a monologue.
Karen McCarthy took to the stage at a one night festival in Halifax and took part in two plays in performances which earned her the Judges Choice Best Actor award at the annual Ovation Theatre Awards.
They were launched last year at Whitby Pavilion and the national competition accepts seven minute plays and monologues and 12 are chosen to take to the stage at the event.
Karen performed in a piece called Planet Rabbit by London writer Penelope Maclachlan and a second piece by Matlock writer, Graham Sellors, ‘Daughter of the Moon’ alongside Whitby actress Fiona Organ, which won the Audience Choice Award for Best Production.
Theatre staff from Whitby impressed so much last year that they were invited over to Halifax to work on this year’s production team so technical stage manager Dave Masters, event host Chris Wales and actress Fiona Organ also headed to Halifax.
