THE CURTAIN will go up this week for a hilarious production on the lives of five women who inherit equal shares in a dilapidated theatre and plan to bring it back to life again.
In Curtain Up, presented by Whitby Amateur Dramatic Society (WADS), the women try various fund-raising schemes.
But their most ambitious is to hold a concert featuring local talent and a world-famous star who agrees to appear for no fee.
However, their plans go awry and it’s a race to keep their audience from guessing the truth of the matter.
This show marks the first time in many many years that WADS have added a fourth performance by showing on Sunday also.
Audiences can expect a lot of fun from this show, a spot of keep fit, eyes down for bingo and a huge international singer star.
The show is being directed by Chris Wales who fell in love with the script the moment he finished reading it.
“I just knew that the Whitby audiences would love the homour and the visual comedy that runs alongside it.
“The cast and I are having a lot of fun putting this together,” he said.
Curtain Up can be seen on Saturday 28, Sunday 29, Monday 30 and Tuesday 31 May at 7.30pm.
Tickets are priced £6, concessions £5.
They can be purchased from Whitby Pavilion Complex, Whitby Tourist Information Centre or by calling (01947) 604855.
