A TRIO of Castleton students achieved a prestigious arts award recently.
Year six pupils Charlotte Knowles, Ellie Underwood and Frances Quantrill chose to study towards a Bronze Arts Award, the first time Castleton School had run the course, and all three graduated with full honours.
Teacher Liz Smith said: “The girls had to build a portfolio up, comprising of four units of work.
“They had the opportunity to perform, visit exhibitions and live performances, research an artist and teach others a skill.
“Evidence had to be collected and when finished the portfolios had to be sent to London to be moderated.”
The Arts Award is a national qualification that supports young people in their development as artists and arts leaders.
Launched in 2005, the award fosters creative, communication and leadership skills and helps to prepare young people for further education and employment.
The three girls now all study at Caedmon School.
