SCARECROWS will be on the march in Hinderwell and Port Mulgrave next week for the villages’ annual district gala week in aid of local charities.
The gala opens at 1pm on Sunday on Hinderwell sports field. Among the attractions will be a bucking bronco, bouncy castle, fun dog show, children’s races, barbecue and music by the Downe and Outs jazz band.
On Monday evening, there will be a family treasure hunt starting at The Badger Hounds as well as entertainment from Harry Thompson’s dance organ.
The scarecrows will be on show all week and there is a local art exhibition at the old school where refreshments and scarecrow maps will be available.
Later attractions include a domino drive on Tuesday starting at 8pm at the Brown Cow, a garden fete on Wednesday at the old school and an evening concert at the Methodist Church by Lealholm choir.
Local talent features at Staithes Athletic Club in a fun variety show on Thursday and the week ends with a prize raffle draw at the Brown Cow on Friday.
Money raised by the gala will be donated to the sports club, the old school and St Hilda’s playgroup.
