A pop up gallery selling work from local artists is open at Whitby’s salerooms over the Bank Holiday weekend.
The wide variety of art work moves away from stereotypical images of Whitby seagulls and beach huts.
Organiser David Owen said: “I liked the idea of a pop-up gallery to show some art, sell some art, meet some artists, annoy some critics and make some people smile.
“I knew there would be other like-minded artists in Whitby who had something more to say, something more contemporary and interesting and challenging and enlightening.
“They are all like-minded enough to want to sell some of their work. There really is nothing romantic about being penniless and suffering for your art.”
The show is open today to Wednesday , 11am - 6pm.
The artists involved are: Rubber Gorilla, Zara Noble, Bryan Ledgard, Aphra O’ Connor, David Owen, Louise Hughes, Andi Walker, Sarah Peirson, Damon Ness, Nicola Stead, Matt Wade, Elaine Edmunds, Chris Whitehead, Emma Evett and Rhea Sherriff-Hammond.
