THE new Whitby Sea Festival is delighted to announce that the iconic Martin Carthy will headline the Friday evening concert at the Resolution Hotel.
And you can see the show for free in our great competition.
The multi award-winning artist has been one of the folk music scene’s leading lights for over 40 years.
A great singer and guitarist, who can claim to have influenced Bob Dylan and Paul Simon, Martin continues to be an inspiration to many folk musicians all over the world.
Despite his huge appeal, he continues to champion folk clubs and is equally at home in a stadium or more intimate venue, winning over audiences with his awe inspiring skill, easy charm and warm stage presence.
For four decades, Martin Carthy’s work has immeasurably enriched the British folk heritage.
He is regarded as one of the finest singers and interpreters of traditional music of the British Isles, as well as a highly influential and much-imitated guitarist. Awarded the MBE for services to English folk music in 1998.
Whitby Sea Festival organiser, Jeanette Grainger, said: “This is a real bonus for our new festival and to celebrate we’re offering the chance to claim one of five pairs of tickets for the Friday evening concert.”
