If you go down to Westwood today, you’re sure of a big surprise!

Performing Arts students from Yorkshire Coast College’s Westwood Campus are currently in rehearsal for their pantomime, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. The show will open to the public at 7.30pm on Wednesday 7, Thursday 8 and Friday 9 December, in the Theatre in the Round.

A twist on the original fairy tale, this pantomime has the added extra of seven puppet dwarves. These specially-made puppets have been created by costume lecturer Emma Renhard, and will be operated by seven students on the night.

Lecturer and Director of the pantomime, Rob Herdman says: “The students have been working extremely hard to perfect their characters for the upcoming performances. We have all the traditional aspects of pantomime, including a Bad Queen (known as Beryl), a Dame and the handsome prince.

“But we’re also bringing something a little different with the dwarf puppets – perfect for a performance in our Theatre in the Round.”

Complete with comedy, drama, and musical dance numbers such as Don’t Stop Me Now, Come What May and Everybody Needs Somebody, this pantomime has something for everyone. The Westwood Choir will also be performing some Christmas songs during the interval.

Tickets are on sale now, from Westwood Campus, or by calling (01723) 361960.

The are priced at £5 or £3.50 for concessions.
