WHITBY fans of choral performances can see two joint performances coming up this weekend.

The performances of Bach’s St Matthew Passion are being given by Bridlington and Scarborough Choral Societies on Friday (15 Apr) at St Mary’s Church in Scarborough and on Saturday (16 Apr) in Bridlington Priory, with both due to start at 7.30pm.

The choirs and soloists will be accompanied by a double orchestra of Frank James on harpsichord and Hugh Penny on the organ.

Publicity secretary Leonard Thackery said: “This is a rare opportunity to hear what is probably one of the great works of the choral repertoire so I hope as many people as possiblr will attend either performance, making all our hard work worthwhile.”

Tickets are available from choir members, Scarborough TIC or on the door for £10. Students and children go free.
