FANS of top Shadows tribute group Legend will get another chance to see the band in action at a forthcoming concert in Whitby.

Hot on the heels of their recent sell-out gig at Saltburn Community Theatre, Legend will be performing in Whitby Pavilion Café on Sunday 2 September.

The free lunchtime concert, which gets under way at 12.30pm, is being staged by Friends of Whitby Pavilion and will see Legend, one of Europe’s leading guitar instrumental line-ups, take their audience on a stroll down Nostalgia Lane to the days when the Shadows and their featured singer Cliff Richard dominated the British and European charts.

The Shads’ music covers a multitude of styles and Legend have won plaudits from The Shads themselves for their faithful evocation of those magical sounds which inspired a generation of guitarists.

Throw in a selection of Cliff’s well-known hits and Lunchtime with Legend promises a wonderful medley of memories recalling the days “when the sun always shone and we all fell in love”.

Appearing prior to opening this year’s Shadowmania convention at the invitation of Shadow Bruce Welch himself, Legend are delighted to have this chance to strut their stuff on home ground in Whitby.

Lunches will be available, and their will be a raffle in aid of Friends of Whitby Pavilion.

The Legend gig is just one of a series of forthcoming Friends’ fund-raisers.

The following weekend sees Whitby’s favourite funny man Don Reid make a return visit to head the line-up of an old-time variety show,

Back to Those Good Old Days, in Whitby Pavilion Theatre on Saturday 8 September.

And Don’s talented wife, You-Chiung Lin and some of her musical friends will present a lunchtime concert in the Northern Lights Suite the following day.

Tickets for both shows are on sale now by calling the Pavilion box office on 01947 604855.
