Folk Devils music shop in Whitby drafted in a reggae legend to help them celebrate Record Store Day, which takes place internationally tomorrow after being started in America seven years ago.

DJ Derek (72), who used to be an accountant for Cadbury’s, dropped into the shop on Sandgate last week and met owner Dave Longmate before doing a set at Musicport on Skinner Street.

At Folk Devils tomorrow there will be coffee and cakes for customers as well as single releases exclusive to independent shops from artists such as Pulp, Nick Cave, White Stripes and Primal Scream.
