A HARPIST who has performed alongside Led Zeppelin and Guns ‘n’ Roses will be performing in Sleights on Tuesday (17 July).
Fiona Katie Roberts, who the BBC claimed “has to be seen to be believed” first performed in the Whitby area when she competed in the Eskdale Festival, winning the piano section for her age group.
She has also appeared at Musicport and has gained significant fame as she plays the unusual triple harp, accompanied with bells on her ankles and fingers.
The National Trust has called her performance “sheer magic”, while Jenny Murray of Women’s Hour said it was “hard to imagine just one woman and her harp making that sound”.
Fiona, who has made many of her 35 harps herself, dresses in Georgian costume for her performances, which are entitled My Heart’s Delight.
The performance takes place at Sleights village Hall on 17 July at the invitation of the Whitby Antique and Fine Arts Society.
Tickets cost £7.50, will include a glass of wine and can be bought on the door.
