Whitby-based band Windfall have changed their name – after it clashed with Scarborough oufit. They are now called Arguments Yard.
Launched on Easter Monday, the band have gained a following locally and played their 21st gig last weekend.
Playing at venues in and around Whitby and Redcar the band now have plans to travel further and have also started work on a debut album.
Singer Stu Edward said “Just after we launched in April we discovered we were using the same name as another band in Scarborough who had just re-formed, so the name change has been planned for a while.
“We also discovered there are lots of bands out there called Windfall. It was not an easy decision to come up with a new name, especially as we have more than 40 gigs booked for the rest of the year.
“We wanted to come up with a name that hopefully no one else had, was a bit quirky and had a connection with our home town. Arguments Yard was suggested by our lead guitarist Jim and after a bit of research and a couple of beers we all decided to go for it!.”
The band will still carry the Windfall name on posters for a while to identify the change.”
Forthcoming gigs include: The Fleece, Whitby, today; Little Angel, Whitby, Friday July 26 and Resolution, Whitby, on Saturday July 27.
