SOME of the biggest names from ‘90s pop music are set to perform at a special event at a venue near Whitby this summer.
I Love the 90s will attempt to recreate the magic of the 80s Rewind show which sold out Scarborough’s Open Air Theatre last year.
The show which is on this time at Scarborough Spa will feature three acts boasting 24 top 10 hits between them - S Club, Five and Scooch - in the venue’s newly-refurbished Grand Hall.
Headliners S Club enjoyed a string of hit singles including Bring it all Back, Reach and Don’t Stop Movin’.
Three members of the original line-up - Paul, Bradley and Jo - have reunited and will star at the event on Saturday 9 July.
Five enjoyed worldwide success with songs such as Everybody Get up and Keep on Movin’ and were awarded best pop act at the 2000 Brit Awards.
Original members Scott and Abz are now back together and will perform the band’s greatest hits.
Completing the bill are Scooch, who scored three UK top 20 singles before representing the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 and will perform the show Scooch do Glee, featuring their own songs as well as songs inspired by the hit US TV show.
Jo Ager, the Spa’s sales manager, said: “The 90s is now the new 80s and we are delighted to be bringing a fantastic mix of 90’s acts to the venue enabling people to reminisce about such a great decade of pop music.”
Also at the Spa on 29 and 30 August will be the internationally-acclaimed production of Shanghai by Cirque Du Ciel.
The two-hour extravaganza promises to combine acrobatics, modern dance, original music and, martial arts.
It also features many other Chinese elements, featuring traditional Chinese stunts such as the aerial silks and the famous Monkey Poles, with a captivating storyline.
Tickets for both shows are available from the Scarborough Spa Box Office.
