THE Gallery at Whitby’s Green Lane Centre will be the breath-taking venue for a series of arts events this autumn.

With spectacular panoramic views over to Whitby Abbey and out to sea, The Gallery is a top local venue for events and exhibitions and is to host three demonstration evenings in coming weeks.

On Tuesday 25 September, acclaimed local artist Jessica Hogarth will give visitors an insight into the inspiration for her designs, illustrations and textiles.

Jessica grew up locally but left the area to study at Leeds College of Art and then after a successful stint at the New Designers Exhibition in London she was headhunted for a design role with a Manchester-based company.

Last year she returned to Robin Hood’s Bay and now runs her own company, Jessica Hogarth Designs, doing freelance design work for clients all over the world and also selling her own range of prints, cards and homeware from stockists nationwide.

On Thursday 11 October Sue Proctor, who trades as Rosedale Sue, will present an exhibition of her hand felted pictures and rag rugs.

Finally, on Thursday 22 November, The Gallery will showcase the talents of Rebecca Corner, demonstrating willow weaving, a traditional English method of creating basketry and sculptures.

All the demonstration evenings start at 7pm with entry fee £3 adults, £1 children.

Business Development Manager Andrew Steel said: “These latest events further demonstrate the Gallery’s exceptional value as a prime venue in the local area. Visitors will get the chance to see three very talented individuals, showcasing their unique work in a fabulous and captivating location.

“It will also allow people to experience The Gallery, which offers excellent local facilities as well as fantastic views.”

The Gallery is available for all meetings, exhibitions, seminars and events.

It can accommodate up to 70 people and is equipped with a digital projector, plasma screen TV/DVD, black-out blinds, complimentary broadband, a hearing loop, adjustable lighting and break-out spaces. There’s also a hanging system suitable for exhibitions.

Tea/coffee, soft drinks and catering can easily be arranged. The Green Lane Centre also has its own free parking.
