DAYTIME TV star Jenny Eclair is the latest comedian to be snapped up to perform at Whitby’s first comedy festival.
Jenny, who was the first woman to win the coveted Perrier Award, will bring her Eclarious tour to the festival which runs from Wednesday 17 to Sunday 21 April.
She will play a one off gig at Whitby Pavilion on Wednesday 17 April as part of her Eclarious tour which is stopping off around the country this spring.
After 30 years in the business, professional Grumpy Old Woman, writer and panto star Jenny says she has been round the block that many times she’s lost count.
She has appeared on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, the Grumpy Old Women’ series, plus the Grumpy Guides, Grumpy Holidays and It’s Grim up North.
Jenny also occasionally crops up on day time telly including appearances on This Morning and Loose Women.
Weirdly enough the comedian trained as an actress and has appeared on shows including Holby City and The Bill.
She has also graced the stage of the West End and her theatre credits include Steaming, Mum’s the Word and The Vagina Monologues – most recently she appeared in the title role of The Killing of Sister George for the Derby Playhouse.
Jenny is also a writer and has co-written with Julie Balloo a number of one-woman plays including the critically acclaimed Andy Warhol Syndrome, which was also adapted for BBC Radio 4.
She is the author of two novels Camberwell Beauty and Having a Lovely Time, whilst her non fiction books include, Chin Up Britain, The Book of Bad Behaviour, plus Grumpy Old Couples and Wendy The Bumper Book of fun for Women of a certain age both of which were co-written with Judith Holder.
Jenny is also an enthusiastic hired hack, happy to contribute to various newspapers and magazines, as well what she calls being a willing, if stupidly inept and overly competitive guest on radio panels games such as Just a Minute’ and Banter on BBC Radio 4.
She lives in South London with St Geof of Camberwell and has a daughter at university.
The Whitby Comedy Festival line-up is now taking shape with Chris Ramsey close to a sellout, The Everley Pregnant Brothers and the Last Laugh Comedy Roadshow.
