THE NEW supermobile library has been well-received on its first visits to the Whitby area’s rural communities.
After replacing the old mobile library service the Supermobile began its new schedule on 24 October with the aim of providing a library service to Danby, Castleton, Staithes and Robin Hood’s Bay which are six miles away from a branch library.
Figures show 140 people used it during the first two visits, borrowing 1,034 items which equated to 38 per cent of the issues by the Supermobile in its first month.
Although Sleights doesn’t meet the criteria to warrant a visit from the Supermobile it will still receive it a reduced level so the service isn’t completely withdrawn.
The report on the Supermobile’s start was given to councillors at the North Yorkshire County Council’s Yorkshire Coast and Moors County Area Committee last Wednesday.
