The eagerly anticipated anthology from The Egton Bridge Writers’ Group has just been released.

After the success of their first book, Bilberry Pie, which won the Anthology of the Year in 2006, membership increased from six to 12 and this latest book, Second Helping, gathers the fruit of the group’s work over the past five years.

The content has a strong local flavour and a wide range of interest – history, romance, humour, wildlife, occupations and folklore, a mixture of fact, fiction and poetry.

The book is also illustrated with colour photographs and original designs, some of which were produced by members.

Second Helping is available locally or direct from the publisher, Fryup Press.

The group is launching the book at Glaisdale Primary School’s book event in the Robinson Institute tomorrow between 10am and 1pm. All books at this event, supplied by Nigel and Louise Roberts, are free to take away, but donations to pay for football coaching at Glaisdale School would be greatly appreciated.

Members of the Egton Bridge Writers’ Group will also be available to sign copies at a coffee morning for the Over-Sixties in Castleton Village Hall on Saturday 12 November between 10am and noon.
