The stricken Scoresby statue which blew down in storms two years ago is set to be resurrected.
Whitby Town Council is pursuing plans to have the statue repaired and put up at the end of Henrietta Street.
It is looking at costings for the project and the feasibility of the location.
Repairs will also need to be made to the statue by a fibre glass expert after it crashed to the floor in its previous location at Dock End, and a report will be made back to the council.
Town clerk, Pam Dobson said: “The idea is, if we have the Cook statue looking south from the West Cliff, we will have the Scoresby statue looking north from Henrietta Street.”
